Power on both devices and select the corresponding DVI input on the monitor if needed. The operating system should detect the external display automatically; adjust display settings in the system display control panel for resolution, orientation and extended or mirrored mode.

Recommendations

For optimal performance, verify that the source device supports DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C and set the display resolution in the OS to a supported value. Avoid sharp bends near connector ends and keep the cable away from strong electromagnetic sources.
