The Black & Decker BEHTS401 hedge trimmer is an AC-powered garden tool designed for routine hedge and shrub maintenance. It combines a double-action blade system with a 500 W motor to deliver steady cutting performance while keeping the tool lightweight at approximately 2.54 kg. The ergonomic housing and balanced design are intended to support comfortable handling during trimming tasks around the home garden.

Advantages

The dual-action blades reduce vibration and provide cleaner cuts compared with single-blade designs, improving finish quality on hedges and bushes. The 500 W motor supplies consistent cutting power for typical garden shrubs, while the low weight enhances maneuverability and reduces user fatigue during extended use. The corded AC operation ensures continuous power without the need for battery charging, offering predictable runtime for planned trimming jobs.

Suitable for

• Trimming medium-sized hedges around residential gardens
• Shaping ornamental shrubs and small bushes
• Regular maintenance cuts to prevent overgrowth
• Home gardeners who prefer corded tools with continuous power

Key specifications

• Motor power: 500 W
• Blade type: double-action (dual) blades for reduced vibration
• Weight: approx. 2.54 kg
• Power source: AC mains (corded)
• Intended use: hedge and shrub trimming

How to use

Before use, inspect the power cable and plug for damage and ensure a safe, dry working area. Secure the extension lead if required and connect the trimmer to a suitable mains outlet. Hold the tool with both hands using the front and rear handles, start the motor, and apply gradual, even passes along the hedge surface. Keep blades clear of hard objects such as wire or masonry to avoid damage. After finishing, switch off and unplug the tool before cleaning or storing.

Recommendations

Use protective equipment such as safety glasses and gloves, and keep bystanders at a safe distance while operating the hedge trimmer. For best results, cut in light passes rather than forcing a single heavy cut; this will extend blade life and produce a neater finish. Store the trimmer in a dry place and perform routine blade cleaning and lubrication as described in the user manual.
