Lindy 50m USB 1.1 Cat.6 extender

The Lindy Cat.6 USB Extender extends the distance between a USB host (computer or laptop) and a USB device up to 50 m using standard Cat.5e/6 cable. The kit includes a local unit that connects to the host and a remote unit for connecting USB peripherals such as storage devices. An optional DC power supply can be connected to support high-current USB devices. The units are lightweight and portable, with a compact grey housing.

Advantages

The extender supports reliable USB 1.1 data transmission over long distances without signal loss when used with quality Cat.5e/6 cabling. It uses commonly available low-cost cable, is simple to install and transport, and offers optional external power for devices requiring additional current. Its compact design and low weight make it suitable for installations where space and mobility matter.

Suitable for

• Extending connection to USB storage devices up to 50 m from a computer
• Remote access to USB peripherals (printers, scanners, dongles) in larger rooms or between racks
• Temporary or permanent installations requiring a simple, low-cost USB extension

How to use

Connect the local unit to the computer or laptop via the USB connector. Use a Cat.5e or Cat.6 cable to link the local and remote units; for best performance and compatibility use solid-core patched cable. Connect the USB device to the remote unit. If the connected USB device requires more current than the host can supply, connect an appropriate DC power supply to the extender.

Recommendations

For optimal performance and fewer connectivity issues, use good-quality solid-core Cat.6 cable and keep cable runs away from strong electromagnetic interference sources. Ensure the optional DC power supply meets the current requirements of high-power USB peripherals.
